Sokhom Hun suffered yet survived the brutality of Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge (1975-1979) in which over 3 million Cambodians died. Sokhom lost sixteen members of his family, including his father who was killed in front of him. Most Cambodians who found refuge in the U.S. and other countries have little desire to return to Cambodia. Sokhom converted to Christianity from Buddhism in 1981. After years of service to the Lord in the U.S. Sokhom returned to Cambodia in 2009 to serve as a full time missionary. Sokhom’s sacrifice is resulting in the salvation of many Buddhist and Muslim Cambodians.
