The Quietest Room at CCM

If you visit the CCM Center these days, you’ll find one room where it’s suddenly very quiet. That’s because the Jesus Children orphans now have a library of their own, and it’s quickly becoming the quietest (and one of the most loved!) rooms on campus.

The new library holds 2,200 books, and Kevin Carson, of Alberta, Canada, set up the entire library! The books were paid for by Kevin and Catharine Carson, Kevin’s mother, and a few other generous Christians who wanted to bless these children. Books don’t last long in Cambodia’s heat and humidity, so Kevin made sure the room is climate-controlled. That way the pages stay crisp and the stories stay safe for years of little hands to come.

The Carsons’ love for Cambodia goes back many years. From 2005 to 2014, Kevin and Catharine made yearly short-term mission trips to Cambodia, teaching English and the Bible with Partners in Progress. Then, from 2014 to 2016, Kevin and Catharine served as missionaries aboard the Ship of Life. It was a medical clinic ship that traveled up and down the Mekong River, bringing care to remote villages along the water. The ship’s doctor and the entire crew were Cambodian, and the Carsons were the only foreigners on board! Catharine, a nurse, treated many people who had nowhere else to go. Today, their love for the Cambodian people is still going strong, and now it fills the shelves for 94 precious Jesus Children.

The children attend public school for half the day, but their learning doesn’t stop there. When they return to the CCM Center, they do their schoolwork right in the library, with plenty of help nearby. Some of our CCM young adults tutor them, and our English teacher, Reagan Ashley, teaches them as well. Kevin and Catharine now live back in Canada, but they travel to Cambodia once or twice a year for extended stays, and they help teach the children while they’re there. Many of these children had never even heard the name of Jesus before coming to CCM. Now they are growing in knowledge of both their schoolbooks and God’s Word.

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

We are so thankful to Kevin and Catharine, Kevin’s mother, and other generous Christians who made this wonderful gift to the Jesus Children possible. What a blessing it is to watch these kids pull a book off the shelf and get lost in a story! Kevin also helps potential sponsors of the Jesus Children match up with a child. If you would like to help provide for the Jesus Children, please contact Kevin Carson at kevin@cambodiaministries.org.

So the next time someone “shushes” you, don’t take it personally. It might just mean something wonderful is happening!

Thank You 2026 Golfers!

Thank you to every sponsor and golfer who came out and made this year’s tournament such a success! What a joy it was to spend the day with you at our 13th Annual Cambodia Christian Ministries Golf Tournament. You just can’t beat a fall day on the course in Texas, and once again the staff at Brookhaven Country Club took wonderful care of us.

God is still moving in Cambodia in powerful ways! In a nation where nearly everyone has grown up Buddhist, the name of Jesus is breaking through, and lives are being changed. As Mike likes to say, it feels like watching the book of Acts unfold right in front of us. What a blessing it was to have Sokhom with us in person this year, sharing firsthand what God is doing among the people of Cambodia. Whether you were on the course with us or praying from afar, we are one family, joined together in love for God’s people there.

Every dollar you gave this year will be used to build another house for the Jesus Children orphans. It’s amazing to think that a round of golf can help provide shelter for some precious, innocent children. We are so grateful for each of you, our partners in the Lord. It is an honor to serve alongside you.

Click here to see more photos from the day. We can’t wait to see you next year!

Everywhere a Dorcas

In Acts 9:36, we read about a faithful Christian woman named Dorcas. It’s pretty special that Dorcas is mentioned in the Bible and that millions of people have read about her over the centuries. Was Dorcas known for performing spectacular miracles? Maybe she converted many people to the Lord? Nope! Dorcas is remembered for something much simpler — she was a woman who “abounded with deeds of kindness and charity.” In simple terms, she made clothing to bless those in need (Acts 9:39).

Cambodia Christian Ministries has been blessed with a number of Christian women who could be nicknamed “Dorcas”. Linda Rainey is one of them. Dorcas — I mean Linda — is a member of the Mesquite Church of Christ. She has been a modern-day Dorcas to the Jesus Children by making hundreds of pieces of clothing to be carried to Cambodia for the children.

Linda is not the only Dorcas at the Mesquite church. Several women there make clothing and other items for the children. Over the years, faithful women from other churches have also provided handmade items for the Jesus Children.

Dorcas provides a great lesson for all Christians. We don’t need a big title, fame, or recognition to be important in the eyes of the Lord. We simply need to do what we can. It may be a lot, or it may be a little. But every act of generous love matters to God and can make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

So, be a Dorcas today!

And if you’re a man…well, I guess your name is Dork.

Meet the Newest Member of the CCM Team

Reagan Ashley was in the middle of his two-year commitment with the Peace Corps in Cambodia when he met Sokhom and Mike during one of CCM’s major medical mission trips and Bible seminars. He traveled with the team and visited the CCM Center in Kampong Speu Province to learn more about the ministry and explore the possibility of joining the mission work after completing his Peace Corps service.

Reagan returned to Texas at the end of 2025, but just two months later, he came back to Cambodia to begin serving with CCM. Reagan now serves as the English teacher for the 80 Jesus Children orphans, as well as for the students at the Cambodia Bible School.

Reagan’s Story

“I grew up in a family of Church of Christ preachers and missionaries along the Mexican border. For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by other cultures and have understood the importance of the global nature of the Church. Over time, that fascination developed into a passion for foreign policy and international development, leading me to earn a master’s degree in International Affairs from Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service. This eventually led me to join the Peace Corps in 2023.

While serving in the Peace Corps, I sought opportunities to connect with other believers in Cambodia and incorporate aspects of the Gospel into cultural lessons with my students whenever appropriate. Eventually, I met Brothers Sokhom and Mike and learned about Cambodia Christian Ministries. I was able to visit the ministry and see firsthand the incredible work God is doing there.

Now that CCM is establishing a private school, I believe I have a unique opportunity to use my talents and experience to help further God’s kingdom. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and excited to see how God will continue to work through this ministry.”

Garbage Cans, Voodoo Curses, Jesus and Baptisms

Cambodia Christian Ministries (CCM) is grateful to God for opening doors for us to make new friends in Vietnam. During this recent trip, there was a wonderful response from both Cambodians living in the region and Vietnamese nationals—many of whom were hearing the message of God’s love for the first time. Their hearts were open and receptive as they listened to the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. It was a powerful reminder that the Gospel transcends language, culture, and nationality, and that God is very active in southeast Asia drawing people to Himself.

Sokhom, Kevin Carson (Alberta, Canada), and three CCM doctors traveled many hours to visit Vietnam. While there, they shared Jesus and many responded in faith. Sokhom and Kevin baptized these new believers into Christ, using large garbage containers when no traditional baptistry was available. Their willingness to improvise reflected the urgency and joy of the moment as souls responded to the grace of God by faith as they were baptized into Christ.

One especially moving moment was teaching a woman who was unable to speak and had been told that her condition was the result of a curse. She wore voodoo bracelets in an effort to ward off other potential future evil spells. When she came to understand that her condition was not a curse and came to faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord, she chose to have the bracelets cut off. She was then buried with Christ in baptism and rose from the water to begin her new life in Him.

Some of these new converts will soon travel to Cambodia to study for two years at Cambodia Bible School (CBS), where they will be grounded in the Word of God. Through this, the light of the Gospel will continue to spread, and many more will come to know the Lord.

As CCM continues to grow, as well as increase the number of Jesus Children orphans and water well drilling in new areas, we welcome your prayers and financial support to help us keep moving forward. Contact Mike Meierhofer for further information how you can partner with us in this amazing mission work for the Lord.

Growing in God’s Light: The Jesus Children of CCM

All 82 of our Jesus Children orphans at Cambodia Christian Ministries (CCM) love learning about Jesus through God’s Word. Many of them had never even heard the name of Jesus until coming to live with Sokhom and the team at CCM. Not only are they thriving in school subjects like math and science, but they are also growing in the light and knowledge of God’s Word.

One of their Bible teachers, SaKim, became a Christian in 2014. She loves the orphans with all her heart and is a tremendous blessing in their lives.

These children have endured very difficult circumstances before coming to CCM. They are deeply grateful for the loving care they now receive — care made possible through compassionate people around the world who help provide support for both their physical needs and their spiritual growth.

Jesus Children Village – From House to Home

Sokhom can build anything, but what’s most remarkable about his construction skills is that he doesn’t need a set of plans to make it happen. He’s gifted with the rare ability to make things fit as he goes!

Yet, Sokhom possesses an even greater gift when it comes to building houses. As part of the great design for the JesusPlace Orphanage and School, two 5000 square-foot homes are already completed. There will be twelve in total and each one will have an additional 1600 square-foot of classroom space on top. The brilliance of this design means we won’t have to have a big, cavernous school building that sits empty most of the day. Rather, classrooms will be strategically located on top of each house.

Instead of the children living in a dormitory institution setting, there will be 10-12 boys and 10-12 girls living in loving, family-like Christian homes with house parents and nannies. They will eat all meals together as a family, as well as study God’s Word together each day. This will be so emotionally healthy for these children as they grow up, and attending class upstairs in this Christian homeschool setting makes it even better!

Sokhom is truly a master builder as the Lord guides him to turn a house into a home for these precious Jesus Children.

Jesus Orphanage

One of God’s great attributes is His compassion. We especially see it in His compassion for the widows and orphans.

A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, is God in his holy habitation. – Psalm 68:5

God wants us to be His compassionate hands and feet that provide for and protect orphans and widows. This is not only a responsibility for Christians, but it is a tremendous privilege to take care of them as God gives us opportunities.

Right now we care for 65 precious Jesus Children at CCM Center. We want to invite you to sponsor a precious child. They will be blessed, but you will be more blessed! If you can join us in this great mission work for the Lord, please contact Kevin Carson at 587-708-0636 or kevin@cambodiaministries.org.
