Growing in God’s Light: The Jesus Children of CCM

All 82 of our Jesus Children orphans at Cambodia Christian Ministries (CCM) love learning about Jesus through God’s Word. Many of them had never even heard the name of Jesus until coming to live with Sokhom and the team at CCM. Not only are they thriving in school subjects like math and science, but they are also growing in the light and knowledge of God’s Word.

One of their Bible teachers, SaKim, became a Christian in 2014. She loves the orphans with all her heart and is a tremendous blessing in their lives.

These children have endured very difficult circumstances before coming to CCM. They are deeply grateful for the loving care they now receive — care made possible through compassionate people around the world who help provide support for both their physical needs and their spiritual growth.

Jesus Children Village – From House to Home

Sokhom can build anything, but what’s most remarkable about his construction skills is that he doesn’t need a set of plans to make it happen. He’s gifted with the rare ability to make things fit as he goes!

Yet, Sokhom possesses an even greater gift when it comes to building houses. As part of the great design for the JesusPlace Orphanage and School, two 5000 square-foot homes are already completed. There will be twelve in total and each one will have an additional 1600 square-foot of classroom space on top. The brilliance of this design means we won’t have to have a big, cavernous school building that sits empty most of the day. Rather, classrooms will be strategically located on top of each house.

Instead of the children living in a dormitory institution setting, there will be 10-12 boys and 10-12 girls living in loving, family-like Christian homes with house parents and nannies. They will eat all meals together as a family, as well as study God’s Word together each day. This will be so emotionally healthy for these children as they grow up, and attending class upstairs in this Christian homeschool setting makes it even better!

Sokhom is truly a master builder as the Lord guides him to turn a house into a home for these precious Jesus Children.

Jesus Orphanage

One of God’s great attributes is His compassion. We especially see it in His compassion for the widows and orphans.

A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, is God in his holy habitation. – Psalm 68:5

God wants us to be His compassionate hands and feet that provide for and protect orphans and widows. This is not only a responsibility for Christians, but it is a tremendous privilege to take care of them as God gives us opportunities.

Right now we care for 65 precious Jesus Children at CCM Center. We want to invite you to sponsor a precious child. They will be blessed, but you will be more blessed! If you can join us in this great mission work for the Lord, please contact Kevin Carson at 587-708-0636 or kevin@cambodiaministries.org.

Cambodia Medical Mission Blessings

The February 2025 Medical Mission trip to Cambodia was a great spiritual success! There were 6,832 needy people who received medical care. Almost 800 attended the Bible seminars, a good number of which were house church leaders who share Jesus in their respective villages. Then there were the 44 precious souls who trusted Jesus as the Savior and entrusted their lives to Him as Lord! They were baptized into Christ, receiving forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. What a blessing that we have house church leaders ready to help these new babes in Christ grow and mature in a local church!

We were also very thankful that Audrey Jackson from the Christian Chronicle joined us on the trip. You will be moved by her detailed account of Christians meeting the physical and spiritual needs of people in these remote villages of Cambodia. Click here to read her report of what she witnessed during the trip.

Please contact me with questions or requests for further information.

In Christ,

Why Medical Mission Trips?

“We went to encourage and pray for the congregation his sick and unable to see the clone. Lord please heal him from all sicknesses in his body.”  This is broken English from one of our Cambodia Bible School alumni and now preacher, Tola. Translation: We want you to pray for the sick in our congregation because we have no doctors or nurses to help.

Cambodia Christian Ministries (CCM) seeks to imitate Jesus by helping the poor both physically and spiritually. In Cambodian villages, sometimes the only options are to get better on your own or die. That is actually what spurred Sokhom and Herman Alexander to start conducting medical missions 15 years ago. An 18 year-old boy died in a remote village when they were there in 2007 because he could not get help.

On January 15, 2024 a team from the US will join medical personnel from Cambodia and from other nations to treat thousands of people! It will be our 15th major medical mission trip into the villages of Cambodia. We also provide funding for those with medical emergencies or who need surgery.

We thank the Lord Jesus Christ for the generous individuals and churches who help us bless some of the most precious people to God on the earth. Some of them will be thanking you in heaven one day. God bless you for your Christ-like love.

Sokhom’s New Truck!

Sokhom's new truckThis is one humble, happy, grateful and excited servant missionary! As Cambodia continues to open up travel post Covid-19, Sokhom has organized and conducted many more LeaderCare seminars in remote villages around the country. He teaches Bible to groups of newer house church leaders, and they in turn pass on the teachings of Jesus to members of their house and respective churches.  But Sokhom has to go to them and driving in Cambodia is dangerous.

In 2009, Sokhom personally paid to have his two vehicles shipped to Cambodia to begin mission work. Then one of his vehicles was confiscated by a government official several years ago. He’s just been driving his old truck ever since, racking up over 300,000 miles. As you can see, it was time for something new!

God bless you for participating in giving gifts of love to bless a non-stop, tireless servant for the Lord.  What a blessing to know our favorite missionary and servant is in a safe, practical and reliable vehicle! Want a ride? Contact Mike Meierhofer and you can join him in Cambodia on an amazing future mission trip!
